Quick updates. New crew members have joined us, and a few have left us. Shooting begins on Wednesday, May 18th and will continue to June 26th. If you are interested in appearing in the film as an Extra, send an email with “Extra” in the subject to donaldrev[at]gmail.com.

We are now very close to hitting our target budget number, but we still need your support to make this film happen. Please pre-order your DVD here.

We’re two weeks into preproduction, and our 13 person student crew is working day in and day out to find all the props, locations, costumes and set dressing we need to make this retro-futurist adventure noir come to life.

Auditions Fever

Auditioning actors is a painful process, rife with excitement, drama, intrigue, hopes and dreams, and difficult decisions. I wish we had roles for every talented performer who has walked through our door. The final decisions of who to cast are already difficult, and we haven’t finished auditioning yet.

Looking at the (highly mobile) faces of these actors has given me a whole constellation of new ideas for stories and characters. I am more exited then ever to keep making films in Iowa. I just hope we can get the funding together.

More auditions tomorrow (Friday) night, and Saturday afternoon. Then I plan on taking the audition team up to Cedar Rapids for the tail end of the film festival.

We sat with our core crew and read the script today. Harrowing for a writer, but a great experience.

I’ve finished revising the script to draft two, incorporating their suggestions.

Working on contributions

Right now we’re working it out so contributions can be made to the university (which would make them tax deductible), and earmarked for our Feature Film Production block of courses.

There’s no reason this shouldn’t happen in the next couple of days, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
